Our awards

Over the years, Alberta Blue Cross® has received various significant recognitions and awards including recognition as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, one of Alberta’s Top 10 Most Loved Brands, one of Alberta’s Top 40 Largest Corporations, one of Alberta’s Top 80 Employers and one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures.

Most Admired Corporate Cultures

Alberta Blue Cross® has been named one of Canada’s Most Admired™ Corporate Cultures and has been inducted into Canada’s Most Admired Cultures Hall of Fame.

Founded by Waterstone Human Capital, Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures is an annual, national program that recognizes best-in-class, Canadian organizations for having cultures that enhance performance and sustain a competitive advantage. Once awarded, Alberta Blue Cross is required to recertify each year for the following 2 years by demonstrating our continued support of our culture and employees. Recertifying ensures we remain a top employer between each award nomination process.

It’s very rare to be recognized for this achievement and we couldn’t have done it without the continued commitment and support of our team members. They are the foundation on which our culture is built and directly responsible for delivering our vision.

This year’s induction into Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures Hall of Fame marks a milestone achievement. Only organizations that have earned this award 4 times are inducted, placing us among an elite group of Canadian companies. We also received recognition for this award in 2015, 2018 and 2021.

One of Canada’s top 100 employers

Alberta Blue Cross® has been chosen and recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for a second year in a row.

For more than 25 years, the Canada’s Top Employers competition has been recognizing employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Each year, the project’s editors release detailed reasons for selection explaining why each of the winners was chosen.

We were recognized for our in-house health and wellness programming, retirement planning assistance and support of hybrid work options. Learn more about why we were selected.

One of Alberta’s top employers

Alberta Blue Cross® has, for the 17th consecutive year, been selected as one of Alberta’s Top 85 Employers—a special designation recognizing Alberta employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Alberta’s Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which ones offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.

  3. Health, financial and family benefits
  4. Vacation and time off
  5. Employee communications
  6. Performance management

  8. Community involvement

Alberta Blue Cross® honoured at National Philanthropy Day

National Philanthropy Day is recognized worldwide as a celebration of philanthropy and those who give. This event acknowledges and honours the outstanding achievements of individuals, foundations, corporations, fundraising volunteers and non-profit organizations who contribute their time, talents, financial support and other resources to our community and beyond.

In 2025, Alberta Blue Cross® received 2 awards in the health category, which recognizes people, companies and groups who have engaged in acts of charity and given their time, talent and resources to better their community and the health of others.

The Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation nominated Alberta Blue Cross® for the first award because of our support for the Between Us lecture series and the Alberta Women’s Health Foundation. The second nomination came from the United Way of the Alberta Capital Region for our support in launching their Period Promise campaign.

Blue Cross® recognized as top brand in Canada

Leger’s 2025 survey named Blue Cross® as one of Canada’s Top 100 Brands. This list included 326 Canadian companies. Blue Cross continued to maintain its position within Canada’s top 100 brands and is currently ranked at 78. Leger compiles their annual rankings based on 6 core pillars of corporate responsibility: financial strength, social responsibility, honesty and transparency, attachment, quality and innovation.
